Being a member

Track your progress

  1. Use the spreadsheet (Progress Chart Book Club) and update at least once a week.
  2. Use Goodreads; weโ€™ll be using a Goodreads group to keep track of all books we read as a group.

In each session, We will add a book list based on everyone's recommendations. Choose any one book from the list and give it a go based on your preference. (You can read other books as well, just make sure to read at least one of them before you begin reading any further.)

Which one should I start with?

  1. Check out the picture on the right. If you are new to reading, pick any one of those books. (Replace Lolita with Pale Fire by the same author if you don't like Lolita's themes.)

  2. Depending on your reading experience and tastes, ask the group. Some are heavy on ideas, some on prose. Some are slow; others are fast.

  3. Recommended starting points are 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 and Lord of the flies.

The following list also provides good suggestions for beginners:

  1. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
  2. Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
  3. The Kite Runner or A thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
  4. Animal Farm by George Orwell, ( P.S.: do read about it before reading it)
